Are you wasting your hard-earned dollars when shopping online? There are many ways you can start saving money online and today I am going to share a few tips and tricks with you.
When shopping online treat it as you would shopping in a store. Be prepared with a list and be intentional with what you are adding to your cart. It is easy to impulse online purchases but if you know exactly what you are looking for you can make it easy and stress-free.
If possible, take advantage of free shipping by finding an online retailer that will do free in-store pickup or free shipping when you spend a certain amount of money. If the retailer wants you to spend a certain amount of money don’t just add items to your cart to save on shipping, you’ll end up spending more money on unnecessary items.
Use the Shopping Tab on Google
When you’re looking at an item online be sure to search for the item on Google and see the different prices available in the shopping tab. This will let you know how much retailers across the web are charging for that particular item.
Plan Big Purchases
Retailers are notorious for marking down items when the seasons change. If possible, wait until the end of the season to score a deal on bigger items as the retailer purges old inventory. This works both in stores and online!
Create a Wish List
If your favorite online retailer has the option to create a wish list take advantage of it. Some retailers will alert you when a price has dropped that is on your wish list. Target is a retailer that uses this feature. Be sure to have an account with the online retailer and keep it logged in so you get these alerts.
Use Rakuten When Checking Out
Rakuten (formerly Ebates) is a website where you can get cash back on a lot of online purchases. These purchases can also be paired with coupons to save you even more money. Log into the Ebates site when shopping to take advantage of these rebates and coupons.

Saving Money Online with Email Discounts
Saving money online is easy when you sign up for email discounts. Many retailers will regularly send 10-15% off coupons when you sign up for their email newsletter. Some retailers even have special deals just for email subscribers!
If you are worried about your inbox filling up with newsletters from online retailers consider creating a separate account. You can make a free email account with Gmail and it will help keep your personal inbox clean.
Most retailers also have the option to select how many times per week you would like to receive emails. You can limit these emails to just once per week and still take advantage of their discounts.
Leave Items in your Online Cart
This has to be my favorite way to save money online. When shopping online log into your favorite retailer and add items to your shopping cart that you would like to purchase. Then leave that cart for a day or two.
Most retailers hate unclosed carts and will try to retain you by sending a coupon code. Normally these coupon codes are only available for a short period of time. Be sure to take advantage of the deal as soon as possible.
