As we embark in 2019 I decided to give One Little Word a shot again. This twelve-month workshop by Ali Edwards is the perfect addition to my My 2019 Bucket List: 19 Things I Want To Do In 2019. While I have set out to complete this project in the past with other words such as Bloom and Focus, this year I have a completely different mindset going forward.
My One Little Word 2019 was going to be Hustle. You know, get to work and really put in the hours to push myself to new limits. Then Vetted By Andrea shared a post with me. The post was titled Kill the Hustle: Ditch the Pressure to Work 24/7. Did I really want to pressure myself into a constant state of working? Could I build a business, work full time, and spend quality time with family without the hustle? These were all questions I asked myself.
Fast forward to December and I was watching a video by Jennifer Ross of Pretty Neat Living about her One Little Word in 2018: Believe. This video made me think beyond the hustle of building a business. What else did I want to happen in 2019? Surely, I am not living just to build a business! That is when I decided I needed the word BELIEVE in my life to explore a few challenges I have been facing personally.
What is the One Little Word workshop?
The One Little Word Workshop by Ali Edwards is a 12-month workshop. Each month a new video and worksheet is introduced as a means to help you live with your word.
One month is exploring your word and your intentions for the year while another month may be creating a vision board or thinking about songs that remind you of your word. Each year the prompts change just a bit. I will add that Ali Edwards is a memory keeper so the lessons are based around scrapbooking.
However, you can definitely do the workshop with a journal or even just living with your word without recording any of it. The choice is definitely yours to make and how you want your journey to look.
Personally, I will be using the Project Life App to create a digital photobook at the end of the year. I want to look back to 2019 and see how much I have progressed.
My One Little Word 2019 is Believe.
I enrolled in the One Little Word 2019 workshop on December 31. I was going to skip the workshop because I have pursued it in the past but have not pushed forward with completing it. While I did let my previous words guide me throughout the year I really didn’t dig deeper into them. I am setting out in 2019 to actually put in the work and complete the monthly prompts. I do plan to update the blog about my progress with Believe, I am just not sure on the frequency just yet!
Believe (verb) accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of.
Believe Quote for 2019:
Sometimes life is about the ability to believe in where you are going, even when you’re not sure what lies ahead.
The reason why I chose the word believe is that there are many things I have had negative thoughts about. I need to change my mindset and change the way I view things. I need to believe things will work just how they are supposed to.
There are a few things I would like to invite into my life in 2019. These things are (in no particular order) positivity, success, happiness, curiosity, intuition, compassion, commitment, and forgiveness.
There are a few things I would like to let go of in 2019. These things are (in no particular order) overthinking, people pleasing, comparison, self-doubt, past mistakes, worry, negative thoughts, procrastination, and expectations.
My intention is to believe in myself more and become more confident in who I am and what I believe.
My intention is to believe in the power of quality time. I will schedule a time to visit family more often and spend more quality time with John.
While I have more intentions for the year, I have decided to keep them private.
How will One Little Word 2019 tie into my bucket list?
Everything I do in 2019 will be surrounding the word believe. My goals are no longer just hopes and dreams. I believe I can achieve every item on my bucket list. Will I fail? At some things most likely. That is okay. My goals for the year are large and I know that. However, I am going to let the word believe be my guiding light.
